Life Event

John & Marlene | Pre Engagement

Getting lost sometimes is a good thing. I drove the couple downtown, and we were looking for a new location that hasn’t been done before. So I suggested that we purposely get lost to discover new unique areas. We ended up at a yacht club where the perfect mix of sun, sea, and clouds created a nice dramatic backdrop for some beautiful photography. We also stumbled upon an industrial area, before heading off to the distillery historic district.  John and Marlene took me for a bite after the shoot, where we had some great food and I got the chance to know them better. Shady + Caroline Engaged !

I’ve been holding on to these for a while waiting for the big engagement day. Shady and Caroline rocked this shoot downtown, and toughed out cold weather as winter was just leaving. We started the shoot at Union Station and made our way to the distillery historic district. They were brave enough to stand on the tracks and allowed me to get some really creative stuff. Congratulations and we hope to see you again soon when you tie the knot.

Our Honeymoon in Aruba

Heaven on Earth ! Aruba was a dream .. a quick one that I wished would just last forever. From waking up in the morning, opening the balcony door, and taking in that breath-taking ocean view and the life-restoring powers of the Aruban sun and that wonderful sea breeze, to rolling in that powdery white sand near the crystal clear aqua waters, to taking romantic night walks listening to island bands play all night long, it was simply that perfect honeymoon that we’ve always dreamed of.

Ofcourse it wouldn’t be complete without my second most favorite thing in the world, my camera. If I could have only cloned myself, we would have had more photos together. I tried to capture the warmth, textures, and feel of the trip and Aruba giving the two of us something that can help us re-live that short week. Needless to say, I took tons of photos of my lovely wife, and got to do lots of landscape work. I found out that it’s not hard to take nice photos in paradise of such a hot model ;)

The resort was the RIU Palace in Palm Beach, Aruba. 5 stars of luxurious suites, food from around the world, friendly people, and a relaxing atmosphere. Aruba is a tiny island outside the hurricane belt that is so small .. I threw out the map and drove from one end of the island to the other with ease in less than 75 minutes. Can’t wait til our next vacation. Tons more photos inside this post (more…)

Larry & Margot Engagement

This incredible couple got engaged on one of the coldest days of this winter. Their engagement felt very intimate as they were surrounded by family and friends that were ecstatic for the couple. As far as the shooting went, I can easily say that it was loaded with challenges due to the weather, but this couple’s connection can warm the heart melt Everest. Lawrence and Margaret’s slideshow dvd marks a great accomplishment for me as I moved to a new stlye of slideshow editing and dvd authoring. Congratulations ! hope to see you at the wedding.

Highlight Video – L&M Pre-Engagement

Larry & Margot Pre-Engagement ..

Turns out that:  Cute Couple + Location Variety + Freezing January Weather = Winning Combo ! This Toronto engagement shoot consisted of quick shots at various locations that the couple were familiar with: the campus she went to, the campus he went to, and some of their favorite spots.  It is my pleasure to present without further ado ..

L&M Teaser !

I have been dying to put this up. Based on the couple’s request, I had to hold on to these until after their engagement. I had a  BLAST! working with this couple, and I mean that in a couple of ways. It was a blast because I was shooting in sub-zero temperatures on some of the coldest days of this winter. It was also a blast because they were such a dynamic couple. They have fun, they give their input, they listen, they come up with ideas, and best of all they have a wonderful connection.

I am crossing my fingers and hoping they get tie the knot soon, so I can get a chance to work with them again.  A pre-engagement set will follow soon ..  so stay tuned!

Great 2009! 2010 here we come..

New year for the world, and a new year for RLA Studios. Thanks to God, word of mouth, and the wonderful couples and people that I work with, I’ve had a very successful 2009. I’m looking forward to the work I have booked for 2010, and the events that I have yet to book for this new year.

We’re off to a great start with a wonderful couple who are having a January engagement. Respecting the couple’s wishes, I am keeping all the photos under wraps, so the couple can surprise their friends and family with them at a later time. The locations can be best described as time -encompassing; past, present, future, as we got some wonderful images next to old buildings, some street fun, and even near futuristic structures. The couple were a blast and tons of fun, and that’s what made the shooting in the cold more tolerable. Look forward to seeing all of their photos sometime in early February.

Ofcourse,  this post would be no fun without a photo, so here’s a beautiful panorama of the interior of St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church in Toronto.

Marian + Morcos Engaged !

Toronto Engagement PhotographyWhat can I say about this day? I honestly believe that since this couple are such nice people, they were truly blessed with a beautiful engagement day.  Nice locations,  good weather, wonderful clouds,  and a good venue.  Again, I managed to get them against walls and on the grass, but this time in a suit and a dress. Ofcourse, with such cooperation,  I owed it to them to take superb photos.  I want to say thanks to Mina (Morcos’ brother) and Joe (Marian’s brother) for helping me carry my equipment around the park. The couple are very lucky to have such loving families.

Marian + Morcos Pre-Engagement

Toronto Engagement Photography

Morcos and Marian were a dream to work with. They were fun, adventurous, and were not afraid to get dirty lying on the grass or leaning against old downtown buildings. We hit many locations downtown and got a lot of wonderful shots. You can see more of this shoot at our Official Website.

Engagement Teaser..

M+M Teaser

For those of you who this beautiful young lady, you certainly know what will be posted next very soon. For those who don’t, this is a portrait shot taken downtown Toronto during a pre-engagement photo shoot of a fun couple I worked with in July.

They both loved the camera and seemed very comfortable infront of the lens, which made my job that day a lot easier. This photo had wonderful lighting and I just love the simple background.

Thanks to my wonderful finace’ who acted as my assistant that day, I didn’t have to worry about my flash stand crashing or being carried away by the wind on that day.
